I am proposing a trip to Marsa Shagra in Egypt, booked through Oonas Divers for a weeks shore based diving.
Departing Birmingham International airport Monday 23 September 2019. Flying to Marsa Alam airport. Arriving back in Birmingham in the early hours of Tuesday 1 October.
See www.oonasdivers.com/region-egypt/15-resorts/marsa-shagra or google RSDS at Marsa Shagra.
The resort is focussed on divers. Probably not ideal for non diving partners (there is no pool but snorkelling/swimming is available from the beach). Unlimited house reef diving, 6am to 8pm. It has an excellent, 2 km long house reef and they have zodiacs to take divers out onto the reef, so there various options to fin out and/or back, or use the zodiacs for part of the trip.
There are also options for trips out, by jeep or by boat (at extra charge) . The resort is just south of Abu Dabbab, where turtles are usually seen, and it is fairly close to Marsa Alam airport, so transfer time is fairly short.
The Oonas package includes: Flights Birmingham to Marsa Alam, Transfers, Egypt Visa, 7 Nights in shared accommodation, Full board & selected soft drinks, 5 Days unlimited house reef diving including night dives, 2 orientation dives on your first day, Cylinders, air & weights. Due to the flight times, a sixth days diving is possible, for 40 euros. Drinks other than the basic soft drinks and water are chargeable.
There are 4 levels of accommodation, Beach Safari Tent £995.00 (single occupancy £1075), Royal Tent £1050.00 (single £1140), Hut £1050.00 (single £1180), Deluxe Chalet £1150.00 (single £1325). See their website for details.
The deluxe chalet comes with aircon and ensuite shower, and is my personal choice.
Tim has been there before and recommends it, by the sound of it he spent most of his time on the house reef. The diving is suitable for all qualification levels.
Ann and I are going to book. If you want to join us let me have the deposit of £200 (balance payable 12 weeks before departure), your proper passport name and your accommodation choice.
