Oban Sept 2015

Waves Shape

Rob is organising a trip to the Sound of Mull in Sept 2015 for all diver grades.

Itinerary is:
• Friday 18th Sept (Optional)
    • Travel to Loch Creran near Oban on Friday for an optional shore dive (approx 2pm). This is the only known serpulid reef in the world!
    • Travel onto Lochaline, Sound of Mull to the Movern dive lodge
  • Saturday 19th Sept
    • 3 dives from a hard boat (with lift) on the Sound of Mull
  • Sunday 20th Sept
    • 3 dives from a hard boat (with lift) on the Sound of Mull
  • Monday 21st Sept (optional)
    • Option to stay Sunday night if required as its a long journey home. I’d strongly recommend this, but it means an additional day off work!
The approximate cost is £25 pppn at the dive lodge, and £840 to hire the boat for two days (website costs are slightly out of date).  I am assuming we will take a minimum of eight divers, so the cost per person would be £180 each  with the additional Sunday night (£155 without).  You will also require some spending money for meals and air fills, and, petrol contribution dependent on your travel arrangements. The downside is, it’s 6.5 hours to Oban, and a further 1.5 hours to Lochaline (includes a 10min ferry hop).

The actual boat cost could be cheaper as Malcolm, the boat skipper, can always fill the remaining spaces on the boat with other divers.  However, boat exclusivity is always much nicer!

If you would like to register, then drop me an email or see Rob at the club.  £15 deposit will secure your place.

IMPORTANT NOTES:
• 12 spaces are on offer – first come, first served!!
  • The Sound of Mull is very rarely un-diveable due to its sheltered location
  • The water will be at its warmest in mid-September!!!
  • Marine life, wrecks and reefs are all on offer – if we’re lucky, we may see basking sharks, dolphins or seals!!!
