Hi All
Well it’s the annual trip planning meeting on Tuesday, but before we get into that and what we are hoping achieve first of all I just have a couple of reminders for everyone.
Firstly Barnsley FC are at home in a premier league match on Tuesday with a KO at 7:45 which is likely to attract a large crowd, Furthermore a few members are going to Capernwray this weekend so they will likely have equipment to return. So with all that in mind we will aim to start our meeting at 8:00pm. We will try and get the back room at the Rigby bar where hopefully we can have use of the screen.
As you have no doubt seen there are already a couple of trips on our website for 2026. Jaene has a trip to Hurghada in January and Rob has organised a trip to Lundy in September so we are looking to fill the rest of the summer with a variety of trips to suit everyone.
There will, no doubt, be the perennials of Eyemouth and the Farnes but recently members have approached the committee with the idea of organising one or two day trips which are less expensive, perhaps with shore diving when the only expense is the air fills. Therefore we would like to hear your ideas of where we might go.
None of this will happen by magic of course so could we ask that you give serious consideration to organising such a trip. You may say that you have no experience in organising trips, but none of us did until we tried it. What is more day trips will take a lot less organising as there is nothing much to be booked. If want so guidance on how to organise a trip Ann has written 2 excellent guides on what is involved which can be found in the resources section of our website under trip management documents.
Lastly it has also been suggested that we organise a club fun day at eight acre lake or Capernwray, just a fun dive for the club, no training (music to my ears) towards the end of the season when the water is warmer. Perhaps involving a meal afterwards for those who wish. So please come with any suggestions as to dates or any activities that may make the day more interesting.
We can have a great diving programme next year, but it is going to require your suggestions and help, so please come bursting with enthusiasm and a willingness to help.
Have a great weekend and I’ll see you all in Tuesday.
Dave
