The joint Barnsley and Dearne Valley Christmas party was a great success last night. We took the opportunity to award the club “Diver of the Year” award – the Clubman trophy will follow at the AGM.
The “Diver of the Year” is awarded by the Diving Officer (me!) to the individual who has both developed their own skills and have enabled (or participated in) lots of diving activity. There was tough competition this year – Adrian Ward, Mick, Linda, Suzey, Callum (again!), Nigel, Mark Slater, Alexis and Charles all figuring in my deliberations.
The winner, most deservingly, was Ann Bailey. She has enabled most of our diving activities through her weekly planning and coordination of instructors to trainees – a tough job! On top of that, she has tackled the BSAC Theory Instructor exam – well deserved recognition of her excellent teaching skills.
So, very well done Ann!
