Farne Islands – 2020 Diving Trip

Greetings Divers – The 2020 Farnes trip is now open! The club has booked 24 places on Billy Shiel’s ‘Glad Tidings 8’ for 18-19 July 2020. The cost for boat diving is £100 for 2 days diving, 2 dives per day. Suitable for all diver grades.

The Farnes consist of 15-20 small islands and rocky outcrops lying between 2-3 miles off the Northumberland coast. The islands are comprised primarily of a rock called whinstone, which is very prone to vertical weathering and faulting. This has produced a strange topography of steps and sheer faces – unique diving! Numerous wrecks litter the seabed, and inquisitive grey seals come and say hello!

To secure your place, you must contact Trevor Bailey *directly* at the club or via tr@s895383513.websitehome.co.uk. Please pay £40 (forty pounds) deposit to Barnsley BSAC Divers. Cash, Cheque or BACS.

As usual, please arrange your own accommodation and food in the Seahouses area. The trip places will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

CLUB TRIP POLICY

This policy is designed to ensure that trips remain financially viable and is fair for all members/guests going on trips arranged by the club. Late cancellation means that extra money has to be paid by others on the trip which is unfair

1. In order to secure a place on a trip a deposit must be paid to the Treasurer. If for any reason a person subsequently cannot go on the trip, then the deposit is not refundable unless the place can be filled by someone else.
2. The final balance must be paid to the treasurer six (6) weeks before the date of the trip. If the final balance is not paid at least four (4) weeks before the date of the trip then the deposit and place on the trip is forfeit. If the place is subsequently filled then the deposit is refunded
3. If a person does not go on the trip having already paid for that trip then all monies paid are forfeited, unless, in the unlikely event that the place can be filled at the last minute.
