Hi All
Well as stated last week there is no training this week instead we have our annual trip planning meeting.
Can I encourage as many of you as possible to attend and bring along your ideas and thoughts. In the past couple of years trips have been a bit thin on the ground so lets all rally round a make 2027 a really strong year for Barnsley BSAC trips.
This will of course need someone to organise them so we ask you all to consider organising some of these trips – start of course with the smaller trips – days or weekends for instance. The whole object is to bring variety to the type of trips we have from day dashes for everyone to expedition type trips. But worry not help will be available to all who arrange trips from more experienced members.
Speaking of expedition type trips I sure most of you will remember the recent DVD organised trip to Tiree which some Barnsley members joined and those wonderful pictures and videos that were shared to the BBD WhatsApp chat. Presentation about the Tiree Expedition
DVD would like to extend an invitation to any members of Barnsley BSAC who may wish to attend the presentation evening. The evening will likely be 23rd September, but I will send confirmation after our committee meeting on the 2nd September.
Follow-up courses
There has been a great deal of interest generated as a result of the expedition, and as part of the follow-up, DVD will be running a Chart Work and Position Fixing Course
The course consists of the Theory over one or two evenings and then a one-day practical using the boat at Bridlington or Whitby. I wondered if you had any divers, of any grade, who may wish to take part in this SDC? We are looking to deliver the practical element in September.
Participants will need to purchase the SDC pack directly from BSAC.
Future Expeditions
Barnsley BSAC – for consideration. To get the most from expeditions, we recognise the importance of advanced planning. Do you think there would be any interest in a joint expedition in 2027 between our clubs, other local BSAC clubs, and external organisations? It is the idea to involve local clubs
