Barnsley BSAC – Season Finale – Oct 13/14/15

Waves Shape

Greetings Divers – the club currently has a window of opportunity for a dive trip in October. Therefore, I’m looking to arrange a trip to St Abbs (South East Scotland) on 13/14/15 October. This is open to ALL Diver Grades – and ideal for newly qualified divers!

Suggested diving is late morning shore dive from St Abbs Harbour with a potential boat dive in the afternoon – this all depends upon trip numbers. I should mention that the sea temp will be at its warmest during October, and, the clocks won’t have gone back. So, warm and sunny hopefully!

St Abbs is a marine reserve with some excellent underwater sea life (just ask Ann!). Most of the diving will be from the Harbour, or a short boat transit. If we’re lucky, we may get to dive Cathedral Rock – a UK signature dive.

Proposed Itinerary is:

~ Friday – Travel with an optional 2pm shore dive at Green Ends gully in Eyemouth
~ Saturday – 10am shore dive at St Abbs followed by potential midday boat dive
~ Sunday – 11am shore dive at St Abbs followed by potential midday boat dive -then homeward bound

Travel time to St Abbs from Barnsley is approx 3.5 hours.

My suggested accommodation is www.nannysuelets.com/coldingham/rambleshack/availability/ @ £60 per night, but other accommodation is available to suit – see www.coldingham.info/accommodation/bed-and-breakfast.shtml. And there’s always Fawlty Towers, aka Dunlaverock Guesthouse – highly recommended!

Expected budget is approx £200 per person for the weekend (what a bargain!). The shore diving is free, boat diving will be approx £40 per person.

RSVP if you’re interested. If we get enough divers then I’ll start taking deposits for the boat charter.
