Possible St Abbs Shore Diving – 16 Sept

Waves Shape

Following on from my last email regarding Capernwray on 16th September, an alternative plan has been suggested for a sea dive St Abbs – a small fishing village on the south-eastern coast of Scotland. Scott and I completed a short dive around Seagull Rock at St Abbs earlier this year (see image) – it was superb and well worth the visit!

The journey time from Barnsley is approximately 3 ½ hours. Basically the tides favour a midday shore dive on Saturday 16th September, so you would need to set off around 6:30 am in the morning. The only cost would be for air fills, travel, parking plus any equipment hire from the club. There’s a small café and public toilets at the harbour side car park. Hot showers are available at the Marine Trust in nearby Eyemouth (Iona can vouch for those)!

If anyone wished to make a weekend of the trip with family/partners then there are plenty of B&B’s and campsites in the area – it’s stunningly beautiful and well worth spending the weekend.

I appreciate this is close to the Isle of Man trip, but it may be a good shake down opportunity for those divers. It would also be a great location for a first sea dive for newly qualified divers.

If there’s enough interest then we’ll look at running this instead of Capernwray.

Thanks
