***Farne Islands Diving Trips 2023***

Waves Shape

Hello Barnsley Divers,

Hope everyone is fine and well…

I have volunteered to organise the October 2023 trip to the Farne Islands in Northumberland. Farne Islands is home to an amazing array of nesting seabirds including puffins!

Grey Seals can also be seen lounging on the rocks at low tide and I am told by divers who have already been that the experience of diving with the seals is ‘magical’. Wow!

I will be participating in the October 2022 trip, however there is also a July trip being organised. Dive organiser for the July trip to be announced in due course.

The Dates of the two trips are

Sat 15th July 2023 and Sun 16th July 2023

Sat 7th Oct 2023 and Oct 8th Oct 2023

The company we will be going with is called ‘Billy Shiels Dive Charters’ the link to their website is *farne-islands.com*

The dive boat which I have reserved for both trips is called Glad Tidings VIII which is fitted with a dive-lift .

Also air fills are available from ‘Billy Shiels’ Dive Charters’ who have their own air-station and they offer a cylinder pick-up .

The boat is also fully equipped with safety equipment ..and a toilet.

The Farne Islands is very popular with most of our qualified divers who can testify that it is a fabulous dive site and experience .

So if you are newly qualified and wish to experience a memorable dive opportunity , please let me know which of the two trips you would like to attend so we can get an idea of numbers . You can email me directly (jevershed@me.com).

To secure your place a non-refundable deposit of £60 (per trip) will be required to be paid to club treasurer using reference FarnesJul and/or FarnesOct.

More details re deposit to follow in January

*Practical Information*

We will go out on both Saturday and Sunday for two dives each day, usually in the morning so hopefully there will be time in the afternoons to enjoy the Northumbrian scenery and castles. The dive sites will be chosen by the skipper each day according to the tides and currents but ALL the dives will be suitable for both Ocean Divers as well as more experienced divers of course. The cost of the diving will be £60 per diver per day, so a total of £120 for both days diving plus the cost of air fills. In addition to this you will have to book your own accommodation for Friday and Saturday nights, preferably in Seahouses.

Best wishes

Jo Evershed
