Training

From beginner to advanced, Barnsley BSAC Divers provide a full BSAC training programme that allows divers to progress through a framework of qualifications at their own pace.

In BSAC courses, diving skills are taught progressively – each new experience built upon, step-by-step. This combination of theory, pool sessions, open water skills and continual technique practice enables you to develop your diving in a safe and enjoyable way.

There are five internationally-recognised BSAC diver grades, from the entry level Ocean Diver through to First Class Diver.

All of our diver training courses are delivered by CRB-checked and BSAC nationally qualified instructors over a series of weekly Tuesday evening sessions.

First Class Diver

BSAC’s highest diving grade requires a higher than average level of theoretical knowledge, organisational and personal diving skills. First Class Diver is a very challenging award to achieve. Since 1953 when the BSAC first formed, just over 1000 people have qualified as First Class Divers.

Study for the highest BSAC qualification grade requires time, effort and dedication. A number of challenging prerequisites must be met, many of which will require attendance at regional or national course events.

BSAC First Class Divers are assessed outside of the club through nationally conducted examinations.
